Second Laser Treatment

Cade's second laser treatment today went well. When the doctor first saw him, he could tell that some areas were getting lighter from the first laser treatment!

On the second treatment, they usually increase the laser's intensity by about 1/2. But because Cade responded so well to the first treatment (lightening, no bruising, etc), they increased the intensity by 3/4!

The treatment was a bit more painful for Cade than the first. He did cry which was hard for me to see. But the whole procedure lasts only about 5 minutes so he isn't in pain for long. And he recovers really well! Plus our doctor and nurse have a whole "system" they use to help Cade (and us) through the procedure.

We do put numbing cream on his face which numbs the area. Right now we aren't sedating him for the treatments because the procedures are so short, he recovers well, and Keith and I just don't want to put him under yet. He will have to be sedated when they do the final treatments around his eye - which isn't for awhile yet!

His next treatment will be in June. For the meantime, we just put Vaseline on his birthmark up to 3 times a day. We're expecting that we'll see bruising this time :( We didn't see it the first time so hopefully it won't be bad this time.

We really appreciate the prayers for all of us!
