I can hardly believe it. My Kory is old enough for Kindergarten!
Kory has started in a virtual charter school, and so far we love it!
It has meant rearranging our day - including me scaling back on freelance work.
We typically do his music and language arts lessons in the morning so Cade can join us for those. For math, history, science, and art, we take care of those subjects in the afternoon while Cade naps (history, science and art rotate). Oh we have phonics too, which we fit in in the afternoon as well.
Keith and his dad built us a bookshelf and desk area in our basement this summer. So that is where we do most of Kory's work.
By the end of the day, my brain hurts from teaching him. But I love watching him grasp different things or seeing it "click" with him.
What I love about this program is that it basically like being homeschooled but it also has an extra set of accountability set in. He has to log in daily for attendance. He has a teacher he has to meet with online once a month. He has to be in an online class with his teacher once a month. And their are ongoing field trips and other support groups as needed.
The other thing I love is that all the lessons are mapped out - word for word. The school also supplies all the material - we have a nice laptop and printer set up for him that he got too. All the books, workbooks, etc.
So far it fits nicely into our lives, and Kory is doing well. Although he does tell his babystter that school is "boring." Yet he never complains about school work and will even say, "Oh four lessons today, that isn't bad mommy."
