Six years ago (Happy Birthday Kory)

Six years ago I traded my professional life for a life as a full-time stay-at-home mom. No longer was I identified by how many years of schooling I had, what my title was, how much money I made, or what great business clothes I wore (which I really miss!).

I traded all those things to stay home full time with a sweet little boy who joined our family six years ago, Kory.

For six years, my life has been filled with diapers and potty training, macaroni and cheese, play dates, play ground negotiation tactics, baby talk translations, nap time battles and food likes and dislikes.

I have watched and learned as imagination grows, faith blossoms, and tears flow over friends moving. I’ve learned how to explore as a little boy and the importance of knowing superhero names and powers (and don't confuse Marvel and DC Comics). I’ve also been reminded that the English language makes absolutely no sense and that the instincts of little kids can speak volumes.

I’ve had conversations about what makes rain, where do babies come from, and why couldn’t the doctors fix Kory’s "first" brother, Aidan. And I can’t forget the talks about how to stay safe, how to make friends, and how we make people smile.

Thank you Kory for changing my life six years ago. I wouldn’t trade it at all. I do wish I could make those student loan payments go away though. :)

Happy Birthday Kory!

That is sweet, Jessica. It's nice to hear your thoughts on the joys of motherhood. I also wish I could make student loan payments go away. :) Hopefully I can meet your sons someday. Bonnie (Cook)
