Kory's Checkup

I can hardly believe that Kory is 4!!! Where has time gone?

He had his 4-year-old check up today. I know... what was I thinking scheduling it the same week we are getting ready for the wedding and to visit family! What was I thinking?

Anyway, he was not happy at all about going to the doctor. The closer we got to the clinic, the more he told me he didn't want to go to the doctor. That he was scared of going. And he remembered the shot he got the last time.

He and I had already made a deal before we left that if he cooperated (with one reminder allowed) that he could get a new toy after the appointment. (Good thing he doesn't go to the doctor's alot!).

So I got him settled down, and we went into the clinic. He was fine until they called his name. Then he started to cry and almost ran down the hallway in the opposite direction.

Finally we were able to get a weight... 42 pounds... and a height... 42 1/4 inches.

Of course he didn't want to cooperate with the nurse for his blood pressure or his ears to be checked (I don't blame him she wasn't the friendliest nurse there).

But I was able to get him settled back down. And while we waited for the doctor (who is so good!), Kory and I read books and talked about going to the doctor. Cade, thankfully slept through the whole appointment.

Anyway, the doctor came in and checked Kory. He is in the 90th percentile for both height and weight. The doctor even commented on how long Kory's upper body is. Then the other nurse came in and tested Kory's hearing (slap the table when you hear a beep) and his eyes (identifying hearts, squares, and circles).

The first nurse even commented to the second nurse, how did you get him settled down....

Then it was back to the room and the painful shots. He had to get two of them. They gave them to him in the same arm. He was not happy at all and cried so hard.

Then to make matters worse, when we finally did get home, he was standing on the porch by the door and tried to step on a plant. Only the plant was on the side of the porch not on the porch. So he tumbled into the corner of the flower bed. Thankfully he fell onto his good shoulder and rolled across it. He didn't seem too phased.

So that was our adventure for Kory's 4-year-old checkup. Thankfully he doesn't go back until next year unless we decide to get him a flu shot. Which we're not sure about this year.

I know this was an extremely long post...
